Paving the Way Series

Design | Digital Media | Outreach

The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC)’s Paving the Way paper series covers three key topics related to electric vehicles (EVs): vehicle-to-grid (V2G) standards, equitable shared mobility programs, and EV charger interconnection timelines. In this series, IREC provides pathways and considerations for transitioning to electrified transportation in a manner that is equitable, efficient, and beneficial to the grid.

I designed the three papers in InDesign, created three videos about each paper, and led the social media and email campaign filled with graphics and interesting information from the reports.

Enabling Equitable Electric Vehicle Shared Mobility Programs

Paving the Way: Enabling Equitable Electric Vehicle Shared Mobility Programs builds on existing research centered on EV charging infrastructure and shared mobility to develop a set of recommendations on how to incorporate transportation equity into utility regulation and make the case for supporting equitable transportation programs before PUCs.

Emerging Best Practices for Electric Vehicle Charger Inerconnection

Paving the Way: Emerging Best Practices for Electric Vehicle Charger Inerconnection includes best practices to streamline the process of interconnecting electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to the grid. Paving the Way: Emerging Best Practices for Electric Vehicle Charger Interconnection identifies new policies and practices at the state, local, and utility levels that can help resolve challenges that charging station developers currently face.

Vehicle-to-Grid Standards for Electric Vehicles

Paving the Way: Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) Standards for Electric Vehicles provides the starting point for regulators and other stakeholders to begin that process and unlock the potential of V2G technology on the grid. This paper introduces various V2G technologies and configurations, walking through a number of technical and regulatory challenges. We take a deep dive into technical standards that govern V2G integration by looking through relevant existing and upcoming standards and communication protocols that can make V2G a reality.
